First of all. My intension is to make things better.
I'm quite new to julia. I hear about julia just a few days ago mentioned in the press: www.heise.de
The installation of "julia" was quite easy and it works fine.
After that i go on visiting your site:
"A flexible IDE for the 21st century
Juno is a powerful, free environment for the Julia language"
hmmm... i thought: wow... that is cool and they seems to be very proud about "juno". Lets install it.
And than the trouble... the mess started.
Unfourtunaly i had to realize that your IDE seems to be a very green banana. At least relating to installation of it and that fact (more explanation below) is not mentioned on your website so that every one could see it at first sight.
Wouldn't it be not honorable to mention it???
Wouldn't it be not fair to Users to mark that Software, that IDE as: BETA!!?
My guess is that many Users got a similar experience with juno. Wasting a lot of time troubleshooting and getting angry.
I try to install Juno several times and end every time in a mess (like other users before as i can see under discuss)
You may ask what kind of mess? well the interesting thing is. It is not the same every time although I did exactly the same.
Every time I started with a really fresh installed (virgin) Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Have you ever tried that with Juno an a virgin Ubuntu??? I guess no!
Because if you ever had done that with JUNO you will fail as a "normal" User
To get me right. i guess you are proud of that what you are doing and i hope it will end up in a very good product, but in the meantime: Please test the installation-process of Juno much more before pretending it is a mature IDE!
MARK it as a BETA-Software. It is NOT a shame to do that. You will preserve many User being frustrated.
PS: I have tried it with Julia 0.5.0 (according instructing here: http://julialang.org/downloads/platform.html ) and with Julia 0.4.5 (over Ubuntu Software)
